Summary
US equities opened very significantly higher, helped by European markets. The gains were shaky though, with the SPX maxing out at 3088, and swinging to 3003. There was a secondary ramp to 3055, but then a new intraday low of 2984 in early afternoon. The late afternoon saw another swing upward.
Volatility was itself rather wild, printing 44.16, but settling -11.5% to 36.09. Prime target are the sp'2830s, which should equate to VIX 55s or so.

Summary
US equities opened very significantly lower, largely pressured via other world markets.
The President was seemingly rattled, and duly took a swipe at Print Central!
Price spiraled lower into and across the afternoon, with the SPX printing 2999 in the closing hour.
Volatility spiked, the VIX settling +47.9% to 40.79. The market is s/t cyclically oversold, and will be inclined to see choppy upside into the weekend. Having decisively broken under the most recent higher low of 3090, 3233 has become a provisional key high. Prime target are the 2830s, which appear more feasible in early/mid July.
The bears push back
Today was certainly a rough day for the market, but one major down day doesn't negate the bullish May settlement in the Nasdaq comp' and SPX.
Whilst a foray into the mid 2800s appears realistic, if not probable by mid July, I have to see the m/t trend as bullish unless we see a monthly close back under a number of key technicals, not least the monthly 10MA, the 200dma, and psy'3K. In any case... it was a day of market drama, with more to come this summer, and who doesn't love some drama?

Near zero rates to end of 2022
US equity indexes mostly closed on a weak note, sp -17pts (0.5%) at 3190. Nasdaq comp' +0.7%. Dow -1.0%. The Transports settled -2.5%.

Summary
The day began in pre-market with the US President...
Nasdaq 10K is certainly something for the economic and market bulls to tout.
Equities opened in chop mode, and naturally remained that way into the 2pm hour, when the Fed issued a press release.
The Fed, and later Powell, noted they do not expect ANY rate hikes until at least the end of 2022. So, we're another 2.5 years of ZERO rates, and that arguably assumes a broad economic recovery, with no secondary Corona wave, or any other 'surprises'. On any basis... its a headline that should terrify the financials. On the flip side, the gold/silver, and related mining bulls, can laugh themselves into the weekend... if not, the next few years!
The afternoon saw considerable equity chop, leaning on the weaker side.
The VIX was itself subdued, settling u/c at 27.57.
