Opening chop

US equity indexes closed rather mixed, spx +0.5pts (0.02%) at 2930. Nasdaq comp' +0.8%. Dow -0.4%. The Transports settled -1.2%.

Summary

US equities began the week on a weak note, pressured by most other world markets. The mainstream chatter is naturally focused on the US/global economy, currently in the very early phase of restarting...


Q. How long until all those boxes turn to teal? A few weeks... or late summer/early autumn?

Whilst Disney's Shanghai park has reopened, capacity has been limited to just 30%, which is certainly not a level that is financially profitable.

The afternoon saw upside to sp'2944... just 10pts shy of the recent multi-week high, with some cooling into the close. Volatility printed 31.46 in early morning, the VIX cooled back, settling -1.5% to 27.57.
